Community Builder

Your nominee will have helped local people work together to strengthen their community by creating opportunities or tackling important local issues. You will be asked to fill in the following questions:

  • what charitable issue or need your nominee tackled and why it is important

  • how your nominee has helped local people work together to strengthen their local community by creating opportunities or tackling important local issues

  • why you are sure that your nominee's work will make a sustained difference

  • how you know that local people recognise your nominee's contribution has been exceptional and has made the community more self-reliant and caring

  • what lessons can be learned from your nominee's work?


Leadership

Your nominee will have displayed and communicated a vision that has inspired others to take action on a significant scale or on a difficult issue. We will be looking for nominees who may have taken on a particular leadership role (eg unifier, campaigner,convenor) and whose approach and strategy has made a significant difference. You will be asked to fill in the following questions:

  • what charitable issue or need your nominee tackled and why it is important

  • how your nominee has taken a particular leadership role (eg unifier, campaigner, convenor)

  • how your nominee has displayed and communicated a vision that has inspired activity on a significant scale or on a difficult issue

  • why you are sure that your nominee's work will make a sustained difference

  • what lessons can be learned from your nominee's work?


New Initiatives

Your nominee will have demonstrated an original approach to a specific social or charitable need using their own resources and initiative to make a sustainable difference. We will be looking for nominees who have a proven track record of at least three years but whose work is less than ten years old. You will be asked to fill in the following questions:

  • what charitable issue or need your nominee tackled and why it is important

  • why you are sure that your nominee's work will make a sustained difference

  • how your nominee demonstrated an original approach to a specific social or charitable need using their own resources and initiative

  • what lessons can be learned from your nominee's work?


Young Philanthropist / Activist

Your nominee will be under 30 and will have engaged, inspired and motivated young people and others in support of a charitable or social cause. They may have made imaginative use of IT or other forms of communication in their work. We will be looking for someone who is a role model, who has clear values and who is making a sustained difference. You will be asked to fill in the following questions:

  • what charitable issue or need your nominee tackled and why it is important

  • how your nominee has engaged, inspired and motivated young people and others in support of a charitable or social cause, possibly making imaginative use of IT or other form of communication in their work

  • how your nominee has acted as a role model and has clear values

  • why you are sure that your nominee's work will make a sustained difference

  • what lessons can be learned from your nominee's work?


Effective Giving

Your nominee will have had a real ‘multiplier effect’ on resources for, and impact of, a charitable or social cause. As a donor, their giving (and other support) will have had a demonstrable impact on the effectiveness of a charitable issue or cause. Or they may be a person (or couple) who has developed new ways of fundraising or income generation that has really helped a charitable issue or cause take off or move forward. You will be asked to fill in the following questions:

  • what charitable issue or need your nominee tackled and why it is important

  • how your nominee helped the cause?

  • what impact you nominee has had on the cause?

  • why you are sure that your nominee's work will make a sustained difference

  • what lessons can be learned from your nominee's work?


Family Business Philanthropist

Your nominee will have developed, articulated and implemented a clear family business philanthropic mission, that has engaged owners (across the generations) and employees. We will be looking for nominees who have encouraged a flexible approach to the firm's philanthropy and who have demonstrated they understand the impact of their philanthropy on local communities, customers, suppliers and other external stakeholders. You will be asked to fill in the following questions:

  • how your nominee developed, articulated and implemented a clear philanthropic mission for their family business, which has engaged owners (across the generations) as well as staff

  • how your nominee encouraged a flexible approach to the firm's philanthropy and demonstrated that they understand the impact of their philanthropy on local communities, customers, suppliers and other external stake holders

  • what charitable issue or need your nominee tackled and why it is important

  • why you are sure that your nominee's work will make a sustained difference

  • what lessons can be learned from your nominee's work?


Philanthropy Advocate

Your nominee will have been a passionate advocate for philanthropy, inspiring people to get involved with charitable and social causes. They will have helped change the philanthropic culture of the UK, so that charitable organisations and individuals are better at asking for support, and people more disposed to give. Be they a volunteer, teacher, professional adviser or any role model for philanthropy, we are looking for someone whose influence extends beyond what would normally be expected of their role. You will be asked to fill in the following questions:

  • why you are sure that your nominee's work will make a sustained difference

  • how your nominee is a passionate advocate for philanthropy. How have they created excitement and /or potential for philanthropic activity in their profession or sphere of influence?

  • how your nominee has an influence going beyond the normal expectations of someone in their position

  • what lessons can be learned from your nominee's work?
