Nominations for the 2007 Prize closed on 1st May and received the highest number of new nominations since the launch of the Prize in 2003.

The Beacon Prize for 2007 was presented at the Banqueting House, Whitehall, hosted by Martyn Lewis CBE and presented by Campbell Robb, Director General of The Office of the Third Sector. In all, there were 13 recipients of the Prize with the 30,000 award going to the 22 year old founder of the Africa Prisons Project Alexander McLean.
